How to use CERAMICO:
→ For dry foods (like whole spices), gently rub them over the outermost edge, no need for heavy pressure.
→ For wet foods (like ginger or garlic), use a circular motion across the entire surface of the grater.
→ For parmesan, chocolate, or nuts, it helps to grate upside down.
→ Use a baking brush, silicone brush, or toothbrush to gently gather the grated ingredients.
Tip for long ingredients (like carrots or cinnamon sticks):
Hold them firmly at the very bottom to ensure steady, even pressure while grating.

No risk of injury: The grater is designed to be completely safe to use —
there are no sharp edges, so you can grate confidently without worry.

Extra Guidance
Brushing technique:
Brush from the outer grooves toward the center of the grater to collect the material efficiently.
Using a silicone brush:
Keep the brush upright to gently brush the pulp or purée using the tips of the bristles.
Alternatively, angle the brush downward and prod the grated ingredients toward the center.
For garlic and ginger:
Pre-wet the grater before use to make it easier to remove sticky or wet ingredients.

what is stoneware ceramic?
Stoneware ceramic is a high-quality, durable material fired at very high temperatures (around 1260°C). This process, called vitrification, makes the ceramic strong, dense, and resistant to wear, unlike earthenware, which is more porous and fragile. Many ceramic graters are made from earthenware to reduce costs, but at CERAMICO, we use stoneware for its superior strength and longevity. While stoneware can still break if dropped on a hard surface, with normal use and care, it’s made to last for generations.

When using the grater with children, we especially recommend placing a tea towel or sponge under the grater to reduce the risk of the grater sliding off the counter top.

are your glazes non-toxic?
Although lead is still used as a glaze flux in some countries, particularly in low-fired earthenware, it has no place in stoneware. At the high temperatures required for stoneware, lead simply isn’t effective or necessary.
All CERAMICO graters are proudly made in the EU using food-safe glazes and produced under strict safety regulations. Each piece is crafted from true stoneware and stamped with our maker’s mark as proof of origin and quality.
Ceramics from regions with lax oversight or low-cost, mass-produced, or vintage items have been known to contain lead or other harmful substances. Lead ingestion carries serious health risks and the ceramics industry must take greater responsibility for consumer safety. If in doubt, we recommend checking a product’s origin or performing a lead test.
We don’t just prioritize safety; we design for everyday use. Our unique grater ensures smooth, injury-free grating and easy ingredient removal.
is it dishwasher safe? / is it oven and microwave safe?
Absolutely! Stoneware ceramic is impervious to water and able to withstand elevated temperatures without cracking or warping, so fine in the dishwasher, oven or microwave.
The only important thing is to not apply direct heat to stoneware (eg. stovetop).
